![]() ![]() I also like the good Integration into Apple Photos, and that users are able to re-edit on the RAW file, instead on the jpeg, like most other Photos extensions do.īut in the end the final IQ has to suit my needs, and C1 seems to be much better here, with much less effort. Not only for sharpness, also for other adjustments. I do like the idea of a brush to apply sharpening only where you want it, but the adjustment sliders are inadequate. It just doesn't have the fine tuning available.īut then I wonder how ELLIOPAULSTERN comes to the conclusion, that Picktorial handles X-Trans better than any other program. While I like the Interface and tools in picktorial, the loss of Detail is too much for me to switch. I tried picktorial 3, but never came close to the detail and sharpness that I get with C1 (latest update, with better sharpening options). So sharpening and the artifacts that other programs created were no longer an issue. It handles Fuji X files better than any other program I have used. After you've got a good file, you still need to pull it into Lightroom or whatever to do further editing like grad filter, spot fixes etc. The latitude and fineness of adjustment coupled with the ability to properly develop x-trans files is what people around here like it for. Iridient is a Raw developer as it were and not a full featured editor like Lightroom. Re Iridient, I can't quite see how it can work as effectively if it doesn't use brushes to selectively process parts of the picture while leaving others as they are. I'm currently using a programme called CameraBag, which is ok but it doesn't process RAW images. He just loves Picktorial because it works for him. I think you may be being too suspicious! The writer of the praising post seems genuine enough to me. However, if I think someone is secretly pushing some particular software I become suspicious. Brian Griffiths has always been open that he is the developer of IXT when giving advice. I've no problem with it if the comments are genuine - after all there's much talk about Iridient XT and I've been responsible for much of it. How do you compare demosaic algos of Iridient vs. It really can solve almost all of your post processing needs in one simple to use package. So now that I have given you my long winded summary, I know you have figured out that I am just in love with Picktorial. ![]() So all the benefits of Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop were at my fingertips in a very fast and accurate package. That means I can locally adjust shadows, highlights, exposure, contrast, noise reduction, bluring, sharpening, skin retouching, and the list goes on. But even better was the fact that I could go beyond the basics which were universal adjustments and through their retouch menu, do local adjustments with brushes and gradients to further enhance just portions of an image as opposed to the overall image. In other words I could simply do the right things such as exposure, sharpneing, etc but if I needed to go beyond the basics I was stuck. As a Fuji X photographer Iridient solved the problem of getting a properly sharpened image from a Fuji Raw file, but Iridient was pretty limited in its adjustments. Over the years I like so many others relied upon Adobe products for dealing with my digital images both Raw and Jpeg until I became quite disillusioned with the company and the products and thus began my search for better solutions.įinally I was down to 2 programs. It is almost as bad as owning to much gear. I have also at one time or another been subscribed to Capture One, Adobe Lightroom, and also own On1 Photo Raw, Alien Skin X2 and Affinity Photo and Iridient. I have been using Picktorial since version 2.0. Iridient and Picktorial are much cheaper but are they any good?Īnd is there any consensus on which is better? Capture One seem to be recommended but it's quite expensive! Hello - I need a RAW converter and editor to process my XT2 photos. ![]()
