With the death of Jacques Braunstein, in the 1950s Zig-Zag was sold to a partnership of the Group Bolloré and competitor JOB. During World War II, the company's original facility in Mantes-la-Jolie was destroyed and at war's end, all production was shifted to the Thonon factory. Success led to expansion in 1919 to a new mill in Thonon-les-Bains. In 1900, Zig-Zag was awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in Paris. They called their papers Zig-Zag after the zigzag alternating packaging process. In 1894 they invented the process of "interleaving" rolling papers. Based in Paris, in 1882 the company built the Papeterie de Gassicourt, a cigarette paper production plant near the town of Mantes-la-Jolie. ![]() As a result, we can not in good conscience recommend this brand of rolling papers and have subsequently removed it from contention. The company was founded in 1855 by Maurice and Jacques Braunstein. Once a popular rolling paper brand amongst cannabis enthusiasts, Raw has found itself in hot water recently due to a federal lawsuit from Republic Brands, a competitor distributor of rolling papers, regarding the veracity of the brand's claims of crafting its papers in Alcoy, Spain and that some profits are redirected to a "RAW Charity." It was determined in two separate rulings (one in December 2022 and one in January 2023) by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that these claims were both false. Head to your rolling paper brand’s official website for licensed resellers or buy from other trusted, vetted sources. Additionally, they’re simply not as good as the real thing. Counterfeit papers are more likely to contain additives that aren’t healthy for your lungs (read: dangerous chemicals). Much like designer clothes, there’s a huge market for counterfeit papers on DHGate, Wish and eBay (to name a few). Crutches give the joint some stability when rolling and make it easier to pass the joint around without burning your fingers. To avoid inhaling any scooby snacks (slang for small pieces of ground cannabis flower), we recommend rolling your joints with a filter - also known as a crutch or tip. If you're new to rolling, thinner papers will be less forgiving to mistaken creases and bends than thicker papers. In our testing, the thickness of the paper mattered most when actually rolling the joint. While paper thickness will affect how quickly your joint will burn, the truth is the moisture and grind of the bud you're smoking will affect burn time more than the thickness of the paper. In our testing, rice papers burned slowly, stuck to our lips less than hemp and impacted flavor less than wood pulp and flax. And while the differences are minor, we preferred rice papers the best. Each material has different benefits impacting how the paper burns and how easy it is to roll. Rolling papers are usually made out of hemp, wood pulp, rice, flax or even pure cellulose. You will run into ‘king size’ which are longer, ‘double wide’ which are wider and ‘cones’ which are filled with flower from the top like a funnel. ![]() While the actual length and with of 1 ¼ papers will vary by brand, each is about 3 inches long and 1.75 inches wide. Size & ShapeĪlso known as the Spanish size, 1 ¼ rolling papers are pretty standard across brands and first originated out of the very first booklet-style papers made by Pay-Pay in Alcoy Spain. Modern papers come in booklets, are cut to size, and even include natural adhesives to aid in sealing the joint together. Traditional-style papers would be sold in large sheets, which smokers would have to tear to size. Originating out of Alcoy, Spain in the 17th century, rolling papers first emerged as a cheaper way to smoke tobacco (as opposed to the more premium cigars of the time). ![]()

![]() ![]() These subimages are of low resolution 1/(Delta) T, and though normally in focus, they are of limited use in estimating the parameters governing defocus over the longer interval T. Over short subintervals or segments of duration (Delta) T covering the interval T, subimages may be formed via the normal weighted FFT applied to aligned complex range profiles. This paper presents an application of the WVD (Wigner-Ville Distribution) to the problem of focusing an inverse SAR (ISAR) image over an extended period T of the order of two seconds or more. Monte Carlo simulations show that the MLE attains the Cramer-Rao bound for low to moderate signal-to-noise depending on the a priori estimates of range, velocity and acceleration. A fast MLE is then proposed which uses the Hough transform (HT) to initialize the MLE algorithm. In addition, the Cramer Rao bound is computed in closed form which shows that the velocity bound is decoupled from the corresponding bounds in range and acceleration. Convexity and symmetry properties of the ambiguity function over range, velocity and acceleration are presented these are useful for determining region and speed of convergence for recursive algorithms used to compute the MLE. Analytic properties of the associated wideband ambiguity function are derived in particular the ambiguity function, with acceleration set to zero, is derived in closed form. The algorithm is demonstrated for 0.3 meter resolution SAR data of a Winnebago van from a Ku-band radar.Īn efficient implementation of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is presented for the estimation of target range, radial velocity and acceleration when the radar waveform consists of a wideband linear frequency modulated (LFM) pulse train. In forming the motion model, the algorithm avoids undue reliance on particular bright or narrow-Doppler targets in favor of a global fit to many partially resolved or glinting features. The algorithms attempt to estimate the bulk motion of the vehicle and its rotation about its mean position by fitting many small pieces of information gathered from low quality or short duration scatterers detected in either the raw range- compressed signal history or in the complex image. This paper explores the effectiveness of models of the second kind by testing a set of motion estimation algorithms against motor vehicle targets imaged by a high-frequency SAR at long range and low grazing angle. By contrast, the imaging of large ships in sea clutter yields a wealth of information of the motion of the body. This question is particularly important for the imaging of small targets in ground clutter since the available information on the target motion may be very limited. A major unsolved problem is whether it is better to develop a deterministic model of the motion or to fit the observations to a mathematical model which may be ambiguous with a wide range of physical target motions. Inverse-synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) processing algorithms require an explicit or implicit model of the motion of the target, since this information is not measurable at the sensor. In addition, the analysis shows how cavity/inlet shape-specific information may be estimated from an ordinary ISAR image. We examine an older (and less accurate) model based on a weak-scattering modal expansion of the structure which appears to be well-suited to ISAR imaging. Many of the more complete and accurate scattering models require extensive knowledge about the cavity/inlet shape and size and, moreover, are numerically intensive - features that make them unsuitable for many imaging applications. Since inlets and cavities (typically) make a strong contribution to the radar field scattered from aircraft targets, these artifacts often confound the image interpretation process and considerable effort has been spent in recent years to model, isolate, and remove these sources of error. " File must be in Activity format (suffix not relevant). The standard ISAR high-frequency weak-scatterer model is inappropriate to targets with inlets and cavities, and images created under this model assumption often display artifacts associated with these structures. It resonates with the rest of the album in sounding like a stage production, but this has more nuance, like a ballet. It goes through moods: happy with a sinister presence lurking until it completely swells with the sound of doom. I've read it but I had to skim the Wikipedia to double-check my work.It seems that the instrumental version fits pretty well. It sounds like the missing jazz track of a 1970's production of Sweeney Todd.Īnother Poe story I am not too familiar with. This song straight up sounds like an intro to a period piece detective show, where a quirky ragtag team jives along the dreary streets of 19th century London. What even is this? I am completely unfamiliar with this story, but I can guarantee you that it does not reflect what I am listening to. This is a very 70's adaptation and the music reminds me of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." Very prog-rock and not frantic as I would have expected. This is my favorite Poe short story because the idea of being walled up alive under the guise of getting free wine terrifies me. The song jauntily goes on about killing an old man because of his creepy-ass eyeball but you would never know because it demands jazz hands. It's jazzy and a little too close to sounding like Cats for my taste. I remember watching Vincent Price recite this story from a coffin and this is most likely whatever the opposite of that is. Similar to "The Raven," this song shares a lot of lyrics with Poe's short story. Definitely the best track of the album and an essential to any Halloween party playlist. Like a rock opera, there's wailing guitars, chanting that makes you want to pump your fist in the air, melodious ethereal vocals and Edgar Allan Poe. ![]() Then it drops into a more stereo, catchy song at "to my amazement/there stood a raven" and goes from there. This is my introduction to Edgar Allan Poe and subsequently, horror as a genre. ![]() One of my all time favorite songs, maybe technically a guilty pleasure.
